After 35 years, Breakfast at Tiffany’s closes

With a heavy heart, the Portola Planet informs its neighbors that the popular breakfast and lunch restaurant on San Bruno Avenue, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, has closed due to the passing of it’s owner and chef, Gerald Adan. Posted on the windows of the business is a very emotional message from Gerald’s sister, April.

Breakfast At Tiffany's closes

I met April today as she was clearing up items in the restaurant and she is clearly very upset. She expressed thanks to those that have been loyal patrons and that she hopes whoever takes over the place of business can retain some of the classic American style that has been welcoming guests since 1978.

Sad news – we only ate here once, but it was charming and food was good. The bathrooms had christmas lights up all year round. You don’t find many places like this anymore.

We had to move from the neighborhood several years back, and there is NOPLACE LIKE TIFFY’s. we will suffer from the lack of Stella By Starlight (sob!!) and the Breakfast Croissant (snif!). we’ve searched and searched… no one makes hash browns like Gerald did, and the last time we were there we got to hang out with him in the back room and watch him “do” the spuds. Love you all, will miss you terribly!!

Sorry I hadn’t heard. I went to Breakfast at Tiffany’s for my favorite Blueberry pancakes to see the place closed and closed tight. I am sad for those who worked there, but am also sad for the neighborhood we have lost a wonderful spot, for friendship and some good grub! Breakfast at Tiffany’s you will be missed!
