Bone-crushing Wrestling For Charity  action returns to The Portola! That’s right, professional wrestling — with all its drama, over-the-top personalities and exciting in-ring antics — invades El Toro Nightclub for SF Slam 2, an all-ages show Thurs., Jan. 25.

“I’m not usually a wrestling fan, but SF Slam was a blast,” Portola resident Phillip Hua said of WFC’s Nov. debut  at El Toro. “Performance art and theater collide in this action-packed event.”

Phillip Hua, Portola resident and business owner Shae Ingin also eagerly anticipates WFC’s return later this month. She described the promotion’s first outing in the neighborhood as “great, super fun and entertaining.”

“I didn’t know what to expect,” said Inglin, who owns Ferment, Drink, Repeat (FDR) Brewery down the street, of attending her first pro wrestling show. “I walked out of there looking forward to them coming back!”

The inaugural SF Slam certainly gave audiences plenty to talk about — and anticipate when it returns Jan. 25.  In addition to local pro wrestling favorites like WFC tag champs The Honor Society, new No. 1 contender Rik Luxury and The Rock Lobster, it closed with a definite bang!

Audiences and competitors alike were shocked when championship contender Jeckles viciously attacked Pollo Del Mar to end the night. This  incredible turn of events saw “The First Lady of NorCal Wrestling” carried out of the ring.

“Things have gone too far this time,” said Del Mar. As WFC’s Assistant General Manager, she required medical attention for a bruised clavicle, cuts and abrasions after the assault — only the latest (and most jaw-dropping) twist in her nearly year-long feud with “The Cold One” AC, Jeckles’ manager.

“I assure you, the WFC, General Manager Donovan Troi and — most importantly — I will have something to say about this,” assured the outspoken drag queen of her arch nemesis. “There WILL BE hell to pay when I confront AC at SF Slam 2 at El Toro on Jan. 25!”

Now that Jeckles holds the WFC Title, what does that mean for former champ Sledge and the Bay Area’s favorite wrestling-obsessed drag personality? There’s only one way to find out, and that’s by attending.

Hua, Inglin and many other locals will be there to see the action as it unfolds. For Inglin, such unique, affordable, family-friendly activities — showtime is 7pm, allowing kids to be in bed early for school the next day — bring even more special flavor the the neighborhood.

“Events like these add so much brightness and diversity to The Portola,” she concluded. “It makes everyone feel welcomed!”
