Portography: Sunset In The Portola District

I took these photos of the beautiful sunset and fog starting to creep over Twin Peaks late Sunday afternoon. They got a good reaction on our Facebook page (where we often post small tidbits that don’t require a whole post) so I figured I should share them here as well.  Being in SF’s sunbelt and the …

PortolART: Support the Goettingen Cascades Stairway Transformation

Many of us are familiar with the 16th Avenue Tile Stair project but now it’s Portola’s turn to create something unique with our stairway.  A group of neighbors called the Goettingen Neighborhood Group, or G.N.G. for short, is currently fundraising to bring their creation to life. Portography: Bird On A Wire

My new method of time killing on the 8x to and from work is Instagram.  It’s the perfect distraction from the packed crowd of Chinatown shoppers or the distorted music pumping out from someone’s phone.  This morning I came across a little theme while peeking through photos of our neighborhood, hope you enjoy! If you …

Here they are. http://www.frameartstudio.com/ and http://www.arthurkoch.com/ We just got home after a fun few minutes spent at the new art studio at 150 Silliman St. The place was pretty busy when we arrived with probably …

Happy New Year Portola!  To celebrate, the New Year’s baby has brought us all a gift in the form of Portola’s first (as far as I know) brick & mortar art space – we of course recognize Moving Art House as our first art space in the growing Portola art scene…yes, two spaces means we …

Portolans Star in Local Artist’s Citywide Project

San Francisco’s least known ‘hood and its residents still manage to make their mark in this crowded city and its vibrant art scene.  Starting this month, a Portola artist will have his work, which features many Portolans, displayed all over SF. Beautiful mosaic completed at the McNab Lake in McLaren Park

A few weeks ago many neighborhood volunteers completed the new mosaic that now curves around the back of McNab Lake in McLaren Park.
